What’s in… What’s out….

What’s in…

Waterfire 2017… It’s back… Waterfire Providence will be lit this Saturday, June 10th. Kudos to creator Barnaby Evans for making Providence shine with this event which has been so beneficial to our city and state. The event is being sponsored by the RI Day of Portugal and Rhode Island College with its Institute for Portuguese and Lusophone World Studies, with the support of Textron Charitable Trust. Lighting starts at 8:40 PM. Let the fires be lit!

Mayor Alan Fung… continues to make the circuit sounding more and more like a candidate for governor. He is continually criticizing Governor Gina Raimondo’s leadership capabilities and “overspending”. Is this the start of the next campaign season? It certainly looks like it.

T.F. Green Airport… is on the move with new direct flights to several European airports which was announced by Norwegian Air. Also, Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines have announced direct flights from Providence to various American cities. T.F. Green Airport continues to prove itself as one of the best gateways to and from the east coast.

James Comey testifies… former FBI Director Comey testifies on the Hill.
Whatever you feel about this testimony, we must agree the Hill is on fire with “He said, She said”, Russia, and accusations from all sides!

What’s out…

Rhode Works…Tolls… as reported in the Providence Journal, construction costs were not included in the $2.5 million figure given for this project! That figure is just for maintenance. Supposedly, $38 million in construction costs or more were never figured in the cost. What other costs were not figured in? And how will all this affect the outcome of monies needed to repair our roads and bridges? There will certainly be a shortfall in profits that were anticipated from these tolls. This leaves us to wonder will other vehicles be subjected to tolls next? Stay tuned for “Tollgate” coming to a town near you!

PawSox bill… WPRI has reported that the PawSox bill is “not dead” and may be out this week in a new form. As the session comes to a close, one wonders how could this be done now? Inquiring minds want to know.

Bill Cosby…I mean really?… The trial started this week and the accusations are flying. Many women have come forward with accusations of sexual assault and drugging. Also reported was the purchase of “Quaaludes” by Cosby to be used to drug these women. How sad that a man, (if convicted), who once was so respected as a “family man” will leave a legacy of mistrust and horror.
